Dyslexia Specialist National Certification Program

Dyslexia Specialist National Certification

We are proud to be the first Structured Literacy teacher preparation program in New Mexico to be accredited by the International Dyslexia Association. We offer both a Structured Literacy specialist course of study designed for pre-service and in-service elementary school teachers, and a national certification program in Dyslexia Intervention using the SEE program. We offer this national certification program through our partnership with Shelton School of Dallas.

Participants are eligible to take the Academic Language Teaching Association exam to become a Certified Academic Language Practitioner (CALP). The cost for the course is $3,800.

We are grateful to be able to offer a full scholarship for the Dyslexia Specialist Certification program! All coursework, curriculum costs, and practicum fees are paid in full by a federal grant sponsored by Senator Martin Heinrich. Please click here to apply to the scholarship. Applications are due by May 20, 2024.

This is a competitive application process. Applicants for the program must have a bachelor’s degree and be currently teaching in New Mexico Public Schools and must have approval from their school principal to apply for the program. Priority will be given to applicants teaching at the elementary level, although applications from middle and high school teachers will be considered. Applicants must commit to fulfilling all aspects of the certification requirements.
