Early Childhood Montessori Teacher

May Center for Learning is excited to announce a full-time teaching position opening with benefits for a Montessori trained teacher passionate about working with students with learning differences.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing lesson plans, independent learning exercises, curricula, and methods that cater to the needs of the individual child.

  • Observing, guiding, supervising, and assessing children while they learn in the classroom environment.

  • Creating and maintaining a safe, clean, stimulating classroom that promotes self-regulation where all children feel safe and valued.

  • Establishing rapport and building relationships with students based on trust.
    Ensuring classroom supplies and equipment are available and in working condition.

  • Participating in school activities and accompanying students on field trips.

  • Providing explicit reading and language instruction to students based on evidence-based intervention methods (using the SEE curriculum–certification course provided and required as part of employment)

  • Using various assessment tools/strategies to help make instructional decisions for individual students (such as observations, children’s work samples, portfolios, DIBELS, etc.)

  • Communicating effectively and frequently with parents, lead parent conferences, and completing quarterly progress reports for each student.

  • Working closely with the Director to ensure compliance with ECECD program requirements and licensure.

  • Participating in pedagogy and faculty trainings and complete professional development and certification required of all May Center faculty members

  • Providing an environment that teaches respect, compassion, and responsibility for all members of the May Center community

  • Embody May Center for Learning’s guiding LEAP values: Leadership, Empowerment, Advocacy and Principles

The ideal candidate’s qualifications will include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education, or a related field.

  • Montessori 3-6 certification.

  • 3+ years teaching experience teaching in a Montessori environment.

  • Experience working with students with language-based learning differences.

Salary Range: $48,000-52,000

Director of Advancement and Marketing

May Center for Learning is excited to announce an opening for a Director of Advancement and Marketing. We are looking for a dynamic, responsible person to enhance and grow relationships with our community stakeholders. As an integral member of May Center’s professional leadership team, the Director will oversee development and fundraising. The Director will help lead our organization into a new and exciting phase of growth as we expand our programming, build on the success of our school for children ages 3-14, and spearhead a capital campaign.

The main responsibilities of the Director include:

  • Create and implement the development, fundraising, and public relations strategy for May Center for Learning, including the annual fund campaign, matching campaign each spring, and a capital campaign.

  • Create marketing materials, both in print and online, for all aspects of the organization including programming, fundraising, and the capital campaign.

  • Increase connections with community stakeholders.

Qualified candidates will possess at least 3 years of experience in non-profit fundraising and development, as well as a minimum of a four-year degree. Proven success in the development of marketing materials is also a requirement. The ability and desire to speak to stakeholders, ask for funding, and financially support our mission are key requirements.

Summer 2024 Santa Fe LEAP teacher

May Center for Learning is excited to announce teaching opportunities in our summer programs in Santa Fe (June 17-July 23, which includes a multi-day inservice). With small class sizes, excellent professional development, and kind and supportive colleagues, teaching with our summer program is a highly positive experience. May Center for Learning is a recognized leader in the state of New Mexico and beyond for its reading and writing intervention programs for students with learning differences.

During the LEAP (Grades 1-8) summer programs, teachers will provide multisensory, individualized instruction to students in reading, writing, and executive functioning skills.

At least 3 years of teaching experience at the elementary and/or middle school levels is required. Special education experience or advanced training in dyslexia intervention is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or a related field. Willingness to participate in May Center professional development is also required.

Class time: 8:00 to 12:30pm

Salary: $3,680

Small class sizes, excellent professional development, and kind and supportive colleagues, makes teaching with our summer program a highly positive experience. May Center for Learning is a recognized leader in the state of New Mexico and beyond for its reading and writing intervention programs for students with learning differences.

During the LEAP (elementary students) and PEAK (middle school students) summer programs, teachers will provide multisensory, individualized instruction to students in reading, writing, and executive functioning skills.

At least 3 years of teaching experience at the elementary and/or middle school levels is required. Special education experience and certification or advanced training in dyslexia intervention is preferred. The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree or higher in Education or a related field. Willingness to participate in May Center professional development is also required. Background check is required.

Class time: 8am to 12:30pm

Salary: $5,600
